Support for sales staff
October 1st 2008

Taylor Wimpey has signed a national agreement with Rocksure Systems for its Peoplesafe lone worker service. The devices have been distributed throughout the George Wimpey and Bryant Home Regions and will be used by the company's sales personnel.

The device resembles a normal ID holder but is packed with the latest mobile technology. It enables a lone worker to discreetly raise an alarm if threatened and allows a third party to listen to what is happening and record events, whatever the distance. The device can also support the pinpointing of a worker's location using GSM/LBS technology.

A lanyard attachment enables it to be worn around the neck as a standard ID and hides a 'rip alarm' function, which is triggered if the unit is forcibly removed.

Users press a 'checking in' button to notify the monitoring centre when they know they are entering a potentially hazardous situation.

If they have cause to press the red alert, operators retrieve information on their locality, listen in, and coordinate appropriate support.
