Disease containment July 1st 2009 Fixed infrared scanners and thermal
imagers from Raytek/Ircon and
handheld IR thermal imagers from
parent company, Fluke, are being
used at airports, factories and public
gathering areas to identify people
with elevated temperatures resulting
from infectious disease, such as
H1N1 influenza A (aka, Swine Flu).
The noncontact thermometers
measure surface temperature, which
is displayed in color using a thermal
imager or linescanner. An alarm or
red light indicator can be triggered
when anyone passes through a
scanning area with a temperature
outside the normal range.
Individuals who register a fever
can then be isolated for further
examination to help prevent the
spread of disease. More articles from Raytek GmbH: |
