Sound meters
August 1st 2011

Castle Group has a new range of pocket sized sound meters.

The 'Sonus' Sound Level and Dose meters feature dual-frequency measurement suitable for hearing protection calculations, data-logging, and measurements to support noise at work and environmental applications.

Once measurements have been taken, the data can be downloaded into Castle's dBdataPRO software where analysis of hearing protection can be performed using the in-built database of ear defenders on the HSE's HML assessment method.

The range features three Class 1 and three Class 2 instruments to the new IEC61672 Standard as well as two dosemeters. It can measure two frequency weightings simultaneously as 'A' and 'C' or 'A' and 'Z' and has FAST, SLOW and IMPULSE time constants. The Sonus becomes a personal exposure meter (Dosemeter) by unplugging the microphone and plugging in a dosemeter cable.
