Quick screening
December 1st 2006

Scott Health & Safety has introduced a portable test kit that allows rapid authentication of potential terrorist 'white powder' attacks. The Prime Alert Biodetection System is a broad-screening test that quickly detects, on site, suspicious levels of bacteria, bacterial spores and many viruses with one test kit.

Hoax agents such as starch, flour, coffee whitener or washing powder are rapidly screened out.

The system enables first responders, in less than 10min, to classify the alarm by determining the biological risk factors of the unknown substance before deploying the full Haz-Mat response. The system can detect, with one test, all 13 high-priority, bacterial agents identified by the Centers for Disease Control as easily deployed biological weapons.
