Status tags for MEWPs
April 1st 2007

Scafftag has introduced a new status tagging system to manage the inspection, maintenance and accurate identification of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) such as cherry pickers, genie booms and scissor lifts.

The tag system comprises two components: a holder which attaches permanently to the equipment; and replaceable inserts. Inserts are completed as inspections or maintenance is carried out and placed in the holder to display latest status.

Removing the insert at any point displays the prohibition (Do Not Use) symbol on the empty holder.

The tag provides multiple attachment options (cable tie, adhesive, screw or rivet) and the tag insert contains a quick-reference MEWP inspection checklist.

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 state that employers must check that 'equipment for work at height is properly inspected and maintained'. Scafftag believes its new MEWP tag system is a simple way to help manage this obligation.

The company will be exhibiting at this year's Safety & Health Expo – Stand H40.
