Near misses have been significantly reduced and safety improved at The Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, Ohio, following the implementation of Scafftag's Unitag system for maintenance and inspection of fall arrest harnesses.

The system clearly identifies harnesses and lanyards that have not been inspected by the site's equipment inspectors.

Unitag comprises a holder, that attaches permanently to the equipment, and replacement inserts. Once the two parts of the holder are locked together, it can only be removed with heavy duty cutters.

Using the Unitag system, the company gives each year a colour. It is then easy to see if equipment has been inspected in that period.
