Tagging for T5
October 1st 2007

Permasteelisa has a team of 120 staff working on BAA's new T5 at Heathrow. They are erecting a staggering nine miles of glass cladding for the walls of the main terminal building. Nigel Ree is health, safety and environment manager for Permasteelisa and must ensure that thousands of 5 by 4m sheets of glass are installed without compromising safety. Helping in this task is Scafftag. Ree employs its information management solutions on the seven projects he is overseeing. Among them are MEWP Tag (for mobile elevated work platforms), Podium Tag, Laddertag and LOLER Tag for lifting equipment. Ree says "I need a standard tagging solution that everyone can understand, whether they are new recruits and it is their first day on site, or contractors whose first language isn't English. With these tags, staff know immediately whether they can use a piece of equipment or not."
