Training courses February 1st 2005 National Radiological Protection Board (NRPB) has organised two nonionising radiation training courses for the first half of 2005 to be held at its headquarters in Oxfordshire.
The first course, Nonionising Radiation Awareness, will be held on 23 March 2005 and aims to provide an overview of the nature of NIR, the effects of exposure and a discussion of sources typically found in industry and research.
NIR includes electric and magnetic fields, radiofrequency and microwave radiation, as well as optical radiation. The course will cover the regulatory framework for controlling occupational exposure, with reference to EU Directives, together with practical control measures.
The second course, Radiofrequency Safety Awareness, takes place on 8 June 2005. Its aim is to provide a basic understanding of the hazards associated with radiofrequency sources, such as telecomms antennae and microwave link dishes.
The course will cover proposals for changes in UK and European exposure guidelines and legislation, in addition to current mobile telephony research.
Guidance on exposure and risk management will be given and procedures for safe working practices and emergency arrangements discussed. More articles from NRPB: |
