Efficient management of keys June 25th 2009 The NHS in Leicester has become the latest healthcare trust to install a Traka system to manage its key security. Glenfield Hospital, one of three sites in the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, has invested in two Traka L Series (180) key cabinets to replace its old system.
The previous system was unreliable and gave little data on users. With hospital keys giving access not just to areas within the hospital, but also to valuable equipment, it is vital for keys to be managed efficiently and for data to be accurate.
Traka’s system offers controlled access to hospital keys by swipe card only – for medical and admin staff this is their ID card – and provides further restrictions for particular areas, such as a curfew function for catering staff and email back-up for situations where staff forget their cards and need to access cabinets via a security guard. A ‘chain of command’ for key management ensures that only appropriate staff have access to particular keys. More articles from Traka Plc: |
