Curing headaches
December 1st 2004

EMC can be a real headache – especially when it causes voltage fluctuation and flicker that can induce migraines and even seizures. Adherence to flicker standards is required for all equipment, if it is to conform with the EMC Directive when the selfdeclaration route to conformity is taken. REO UK has therefore issued a free guide that explains everything anyone needs to know about the latest standards and can cure headaches literally and metaphorically.

The guide is a valuable aid when unravelling the requirements and differences of the two EMC standards – EN61000-3-3 and EN610003- 11, and gives useful advice on applying them.

These standards have been called up by the EMC directive to address the tolerance of the human vision system to fluctuations in light output from a 16W tungsten filament lamp.

Says John Symonds of REO UK “Engineers must develop a good understanding of the requirements, this guide will help greatly.”
