GREATER SECURITY FOR LONE WORKERS December 1st 2004 Connexion2‘s Identicom and Blue Chip Technology;s Guardian 24, a fully automated monitoring system, are working together to improve safety for Fife Council’s lone workers.
Identicom looks like a normal ID holder, but has a dual or tri-band GSM module, GSM SIM card, lithium battery and control electronics.
It enables a lone worker to covertly raise an alarm if threatened and allows a third party to listen to what is happening and record events, whatever the distance. The device can also support the pinpointing of a worker’s location using GSM/LBS technology.
A covert emergency button activates the alarm that opens up a voice call to a third party, while notifying the wearer that the alarm has been triggered.
A second button lets the wearer notify their employer when they are entering a potentially hazardous situation. More articles from Connexion 2 Ltd: |
