Powerful pusher
December 1st 2004

An extra high torque Power Pusher from Nu-Star Materials Handling is helping brick manufacturer Hanson Building Products push brick kiln cars that typically weigh about 12 000kg at its site in Elland, Halifax.

Steve Mather, Nu-star’s technical director, explains “Generally we have found an increase in the size and weight of the loads we are being asked to move. After several months development with our suppliers, we have increased the starting torque available in the Power Pusher by 20% to ensure we keep up with customer requirements.” At 1.4m long and 670mm wide, Nu-star describes its Power Pusher as a multi-purpose tractor unit with a wide range of attachments that enable it to push, pull and manoeuvre heavy rolling loads in many industrial applications. It has sealed gel batteries and matching on-board charging system.
