Participants find out the easy way Do drink and drive... October 16th 2006 Dutch paper Het Laatste Nieuws recently reported on a Dutch scentist who encourages young people to drink and drive.
The University of Groningen's Karel Brookhuis has devised a special driving course which shows young people the dangers of drink driving first hand. Participants drink alcoholic beverages until they reach the legal limit. Then attempt a series of manoeuvres on a specially designed track – including slalom, parking and an emergency stop.
In the ten years it has been running, Brookhuis claims no one has ever passed the test. He also claims participants who take the test are six times less likely to be caught for drink driving later in life. He now wants to extend it nationwide. More articles from HSM News Desk: |
