Make some noise for Pulsar's doseBadge!

Make some noise for Pulsar's doseBadge!

Noise at work Regs problem? Here's the solution
October 13th 2006

The HSE has recently enforced a new set of guidelines to protect the potential 2 million employees in the UK who may be at risk from the long-term effects of noise in the workplace. It is the duty of the employer to ensure they adequately protect against one of the most prevelant but often ignored industrial diseases (noise induced hearing loss/Tinnitus).

Employers now have 4 ‘Action levels’ and 2 ‘Legal Limits’ to consider. But help is at hand: Pulsar's recently released Model 22A doseBadge systems allows users to quickly and efficiently assess the daily exposure for employees, whilst a separate Peak channel allows you to assess any risk from impulsive noise in the workplace.

The worker wears the robust, comfortable and lightweight dosimetry unit on their shoulder or safety hat. The fact that there are no controls or cables is a key safety and convenience factor.

The enhanced software package allows users to quickly create concise reports that are both professional and informative – meaning you can concentrate on implementing suitable measures to minimise the risks.

A reader unit with an integral acoustic calibrator is used to reset, calibrate, start, stop and download the measurements from each doseBadge. The reader uses infrared technology (similar to a remote control on your television) to communicate with each Model 22A doseBadge.

These cost effective ‘Measurement Systems’ take the worry out of assessments by supplying users with everything needed for your survey, according to Pulsar.

According to the company, many Health & Safety professionals have already found earlier doseBadge systems a handy solution for noise measurement applications which include: Workshops, Shop Floors, Mining, Construction, Maintenance, Agricultural, Printing Industry, Police Forces, Utility Services, Fire Services, Automotive Industry, Offshore, Vehicle cabins and many more.
