Noise awareness courses
January 5th 2007

Pulsar's new one day ‘Noise Awareness’ courses aim to provide the Health & Safety professional with an introduction or refresher to help compliance with new ‘Noise at Work’ legislation.

The courses will be held at a variety of quality venues throughout the UK and will give delegates a straightforward and practical understanding of the issues relating to the measurement and control of noise in their workplace.

Pulsar says that it will ensure delegates understand the key concepts of measuring noise and then complying with the new regulations and will teach these concepts without the need for complex maths.

The course will answer questions such as these clearly and reinforce them with practical sessions and worked examples:

• What do I need to measure to be compliant?

• When does noise present a hazard?

• What steps can I take to minimise or eliminate the risks from noise?

• How do I calculate the daily exposure of specific workers?

• How do I identify suitable hearing protection?

A practical session will give delegates the opportunity to take a variety of measurements and during small groups exercise apply these readings to the new action levels. Delegates who don’t already own instrumentation will be able to make measurements using a variety of easy to use sound level meters and dosemeters provided for them on the day.

Refreshments, lunch and parking are included in the cost of the course along with a personal copy of the clearly written course materials, worked examples, loan equipment and individual certificates of attendance.
