Welcome to the BSIF e:newsletter
May 8th 2007

Now in its thirteen year, the British Safety Industry Federation [BSIF] has already established its position as the major, independent voice of the British safety industry.

It is now positioned to deliver routes to influence legislation and provide industry in general broad information sources, such as this newsletter, whilst, at the same time, providing a confidence to purchasers of safety services and equipment through the codes of practice operated by its members.

One of the missions established by the founding members of the BSIF was to fulfil a wide public-service role in seeking to assist commercial organisations purchase “suitable” safety equipment and services.

In addition to publishing a regular selection of products and services, the inclusion of the latest industry and BSIF news, useful link and an up to date events list should greatly assist safety officers and purchasers in their understanding of the issues involved.

The BSIF is mindful that there has been a considerable increase in publicity about occupational health and safety and in compensation issues. Whilst the BSIF is engaging with others in seeking to minimise the affect of frivolous claims, this focus on compensation does tend to attract a stronger attention to occupational health and safety.

The BSIF is very aware that information on occupational safety is not always easy to source and hopes that this publication will assist employers and employees to source the most suitable equipment towards an on-going reduction in workplace accidents and incidents. We hope that you will find our 2007 Guide to the British Safety Industry helpful and a useful addition to your business reference resources.

Sir John Cullen

President of the BSIF
