PPE inside and out
September 7th 2007

Tough work demands tough workwear. That’s why Gore’s PPE fabric layering system guarantees maximum protection and comfort however foul the weather or difficult the conditions.

To get the job done safely and efficiently workers need clothing that can cope with whatever mother nature throws at them. PPE garments must also be lightweight and flexible to allow for freedom of movement, and adaptable to changes in temperature when transferring from outdoors to indoors.

A fabric layering system meets those needs and proves that PPE is as essential on the inside as the outside. Breathable base, mid and top layers work together to provide moisture management, insulation and rain protection, creating a balanced microclimate for the body. For example, a WINDSTOPPER fleece mid layer under a jacket in GORE-TEX fabric, which has been rigorously tested for water proofness and water vapour permeability to meet EN 343:2003 standard, will stop inclement weather hampering a worker’s performance.

The microscopic pores of the GORE-TEX membrane allow perspiration and excess heat to escape quickly to the outside but ensure rain and wind cannot penetrate to the inside. This prevents the body becoming chilled which, as well as feeling unpleasant, can adversely affect energy levels and may also lead to muscle cramps, thus heightening the risk of mishaps and injury. And that can result in time off work which is bad news for employee and employer.

So when conditions are tough, durable, protective and comfortable GORE-TEX garments are essential kit for workers.
