The denser the better
September 7th 2007

The range of ENPAC spill control products is made from quality, high density polyethylene.

When you buy spill containment equipment, in particular spill pallets, drum stacking units and drum dollies you don’t expect them to collapse or even break under the weight of the drums do you?

But this is exactly what could happen with low grade polyethylene.

It’s a fact – the denser the polyethylene the better, and high density polyethylene is stronger than medium density and up to 20% stronger than low density therefore it takes much more weight to crush it, break it or make it collapse.

It is also true that high density polyethylene products can withstand more rigorous testing. But, in our ‘pay less’ world, everyone wants to take a risk with a cheaper product that is often made from a lower density and therefore a lower quality material and risk a spill. This could be expensive though with organisations such as The Environment Agency tightening up on prosecutions and fines reaching high figures.

Forth Systems has been supplying the quality and robust range of ENPAC spill containment products for over 15 years and has a number of customers who have purchased their products several years ago and are still using the same products today – safely and without having to worry that they aren’t doing their job properly.

“There is much responsibility on companies now to comply with regulations such as the Control of Pollution (Oil Storage) (England) Regulations 2001 and The Water Environment (Oil Storage) (Scotland) Regulations 2006 and the penalties enforced by organisations such as The Environment Agency can be very high, explains Mike Claridge, MD of Forth Systems. “We know our quality products won’t let the customer down and will continue to provide a high level of spill control for many years.”

The range of ENPAC products from Forth Systems includes over 100 spill containment products to deal with most applications from standard drum stacking units, spill pallets and drum transportation products to portable products including a variety of berms, pillows and bibs.
