Work-related stress a killer, says study

Stress at work has been shown to promote biological changes in the body which increases the risk of coronary heart disease, according to a new study by the European Heart Journal, published at the ned of January.

The study followed over 10 000 British Civil Servants aged between 35–55 and showed workers suffering from stress were found to have higher than normal levels of cortisol - often referred to as the stress hormone.

Another increase for the risk in heart disease was the link between stress and engaging in unhealthy behaviour such as having a poor diet, smoking and taking too little exercise.
