Helmet comes out on top
June 3rd 2008

The winners of this year's BSIF awards have been announced and the Peltor Solaris sumitted by Aearo (now part of 3M) has won the Product Innovation Award.

The Peltor Solaris, described by the award judges as "a simple solution to a long term problem," enables the wearer to see when a helmet is unusable due to uv exposure.

An indicator unit built into the helmet starts as a bright red colour. With the passage of time abd the helmet's exposure to sunlight, the indicator gradually fades and, when it has turned white, it's time to change the helmet.
