British Safety Council‘s major new safety education partnership announced
October 3rd 2008

In a significant announcement, Western Business Exhibitions has confirmed that its regional Health and Safety events now have a major Official Educational Partner in the form of the British Safety Council.

The announcement will be made formally at the forthcoming Health and Safety 08 - North event at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton on 8th/9th October 2008.

Commenting on the news Brian Nimick, BSC Chief Executive, said: “This partnership will enable us to reach people regionally and give them more information on health and safety. A survey we conducted recently highlighted the fact that two-thirds of people have little or no health and safety training. We want to make health and safety information more accessible and to raise issues so that people can think about what they want from regulation and legislation.”

As an experienced, knowledgeable organisation, which operates in over 50 countries, the BSC is well placed to oversee the educational element of the Health and Safety event series. The seminar programme is to be developed to include more topical issues with the original research that the BSC conducts, along with its regular discussions with the HSE and other political and trade bodies, all contributing to address the current concerns of visitors.

To mark the beginning of the partnership Brian Nimick and Nina Wrightson OBE, Chairman of the BSC, will open the Bolton event on the morning of the 8th October. They will also be on hand to talk to visitors and answer questions.

Tim Else, event director, said, “We are pleased to be working with such a prestigious organisation as the BSC. I am confident that given their expertise the content of the free seminars at our events will improve even further, giving visitors even more reason to visit our events in the South and the North of the country.”

The British Safety Council will announce initial details about the seminar programme for Health and Safety 09 - South after the Bolton event. Interested visitors will then be able to view the list of topics and speakers, for the event which takes place at Sandown Park on 24th and 25th February 2009, at www.healthandsafetyevents.co.uk.

Registering for Health and Safety 08 - North including seminars is free. Registration is via: www.healthandsafetyevents.co.uk
