Safety & Health Expo 2009
June 26th 2009

This year’s Safety & Health Expo proved to be one of the BSIF’s best, with a busy and productive three days. Visitors to the BSIF stand, and those who attended our series of presentations, were provided with information on our different campaigns including the Registered Safety Supplier Scheme, the Fit2Fit RPE accreditation scheme and two awareness campaigns developed with the HSE: “Clean Air?Take Care!” and “It’s In Your Hands”. We were also able to provide background on the new PPE Directive which is currently being drafted in Europe.

This year we also launched the BSIF Breakfast Club where BSIF Members were able to pick up all the relevant information in a relaxed atmosphere before the show opened. This proved especially useful for those Members who were exhibiting at the show and found it difficult to make time to attend the general presentations.

The show was officially opened by Judith Hackitt, Chair of the HSE, who we then accompanied on a tour of the exhibition. She concluded her visit by giving a keynote address in the SHP Arena, providing an update on the new strategy which was to be formally announced at the beginning of June.

The consensus was that this was one of the busiest exhibitions for some years, with a strong international feel. Plans are already underway to build on the new focal areas and activities for next year - we look forward to being involved once again.
