The BSIF trade mission to Saudi Arabia

In the last newsletter, we reported back from a very successful trip to The Dubai Security and Safety Exhibition in January. The United Kingdom Trade & Investment department (UKT&I) supported the BSIF when we led a delegation of UK companies to exhibit within a ‘British pavilion’ at the show.

The BSIF has been building on this relationship with the UKT&I and, following a return visit from the Saudi embassy’s representative to this year’s Safety & Health Expo, we are delighted that they have confirmed their support for the BSIF’s proposal to organise the first outward safety industry trade mission to Saudi Arabia.

This is a fantastic opportunity and work will commence shortly on ensuring that we gain sufficient financial support for this highly beneficial trading experience.

The latest HSE figures (7th December 2011)

Better support for respiratory protection (15th August 2009)

Recent research indicates that of the people needing to use respiratory protection about half do not use RPE (respiratory protective equipment). This same research shows that of the half that do use RPE, only half of them are using it correctly, have been properly fit-tested and have been adequately trained in its use and maintenance.
