Planet platforms relaunches the acclaimed safepost
February 4th 2010

The HSE has set out a simple three-tier hierarchy in the WAHR (WAH Regulations) for managing work at height. As part of this, it recommends that where duty holders cannot eliminate the risk of a fall, they should use work equipment or other measures to minimise the distance and consequences of a fall should one occur.

SAFEpost by work at height specialist Planet Platforms is a unique anchoring system, which is assembled entirely at ground level prior to being fixed to the jackleg of portable buildings and containers. Supplied in two pre-assembled parts, SAFEpost can be easily stored on site – the longest piece being just 2.5m long, and can be erected and employed in less than 90 seconds.

Once assembled, the worker raises the post and fastens its brackets to the jack leg of the cabin. The inertia lanyard attached to the post is then unclipped and clipped on to the worker’s harness. Once in place, SAFEpost provides fall arrest from the moment your foot leaves the floor onto the first rung of a ladder.

Launched to an overwhelming response in autumn 2006, Planet Platforms is relaunching SAFEpost with some additional extras. The range has been extended to cover three types of modular and portable buildings; it now covers jackleg, anti-vandal and ISO containers. Accessories such as an adjustable lorry leg extension, ladder attachment and close-fascia fitting bracket are now also included in the range.

Tim Mee, Marketing manager at Planet comments: “We decided to relaunch SAFEpost after listening to the feedback of our customers, gauging overall market response and growing the product to incorporate more safety options.”
