Essential safety training for chemical, process and related engineers

Every person in an organisation has responsibility for managing risks which are clearly defined by their role. The Institution of Chemical Engineers provides a range of training courses which will help you, your staff and your organisation to improve safety, promote safe working and ensure the appropriate management of risk in the chemical and process industries.

Fundamentals of process safety, 10–14 May, Aberdeen

Covers the fundamentals of and aims to provide an understanding of the key principles of process safety and its management. It will benefit staff at all levels keen to develop or improve their knowledge of process safety, hazards, risk and their management.

Layer of protection analysis (LOPA), 25–26 May, Manchester

Covers the basic methodology of LOPA and the detailed stages of its application. Participants are shown how significant scenarios are identified and how frequencies are estimated for the worst-case events. They are shown how to assign risk categories and therefore determine the number of independent protection layers (IPLs) that should be in place.

HAZOP applied hazard and operability study, 14–16 June, Leeds

Covers the key issues of the HAZOP procedure and is designed for newcomers to the technique and those with limited experience through study team exposure.
