Back-up power February 1st 2007 A power support system from Scorpion Power Systems has been installed at Scotland's Secret Bunker tourist attraction to ensure that, in the event of a power cut, visitors and employees are not inconvenienced. Conscious that any loss of power would bring the former underground nuclear command bunker to a standstill, James Mitchell, the attraction's owner, decided that it needed a back-up power system that would support operational facilities as well as telephones, air conditioning and essential services. Scorpion supplied a DV275kVA continuously rated diesel generator fitted with a weatherproof acoustic canopy and remote start. The generator has been installed in a steel bund to contain any diesel spillage and is fitted with a number of special features. These include an externally mounted exhaust system and a water jacket heater to keep the engine at optimum temperature for fast and efficient ignition and rapid load acceptance. Scorpion Power Systems' turnkey operation included delivery to site, offloading and positioning, all exhaust, ductwork and cabling work and final commissioning.
