Flexible controllers
October 1st 2006

Approved for SIL3 applications in line with IEC 61508, and Category 4 applications in line with EN954-1, Preventa XPS MC configurable safety controllers from Telemecanique, a brand of Schneider Electric, are said to cut cabling time, simplify system design and save money by allowing multiple safety functions to be implemented simultaneously with a single module.

Controllers are available with 16 or 32 safety inputs, and give eight independent safety outputs. For versatility and to minimise wiring, they are configured via software.

They also support communication with PLCs via MODbus, CANopen or Profibus DP fieldbus, as well as offering facilities for direct connection to other types of automation systems.

Every controller incorporates a library of 30 certified safety functions.
