Modular controller
August 1st 2007

Schmersal's Protect PSC safety controllers include system modules with both non-safe inputs and outputs that can be freely assigned by programming them in accordance with IEC 61131.

This enables engineers to combine the functionality of a standard automation PLC with that of a safety PLC in a single unit with no inputs or outputs unused.

The company says that additional input and output modules can be easily and cost-effectively retrofitted, ensuring that Protect PSC, which can replace up to five safety relays, is always the optimum size for the application.
