Aqueous washing
October 1st 2007

ELGA Process Water has helped achieve high performance aqueous washing for Gloucestershirebased measuring equipment manufacturer, Renishaw.

The company uses Mecwash Midi 400 washing machines to remove cutting oils from its precision machined components. It noticed that some of its parts, particularly satin chrome plated components, were suffering staining, even when they were rinsed in demineralised water.

The company now uses two ELGA Process Water Aquaclean service exchange cylinders in series, the first containing activated carbon and the second containing a mixed bed of cation and anion exchange resins.

Passing water from the rinse through an exchange cylinder upgrades its quality to about 5µS/cm and allows recirculation, reducing mains water consumption and eliminating the need to discharge to the local sewage system.
