Expanded range April 1st 2004 Siemens Automation and Drives has expanded its range of IEC 61508/IEC 61511-compliant safety products with three new devices.
The Safety Matrix tool is used to configure safety functions for the process industry. Events and responses are linked in a cause-effect table. From this table a failsafe Step 7 program for the Simatic S7 CPUs is generated in the CFC. If the table is changed, the program code is automatically generated and documented in accordance with IEC 61511.
New Simatic S7-400 CPUs have a processing speed up to three times faster than earlier models. The performance of the CPUs 414H, 417H and 416F variants improves the processing capacity of both the standard and the safety-related portion of the automation application. Machine cycle times and response times can therefore be shortened.
A new failsafe, digital input module for the ET200eco distributed I/O station has four two-channel inputs (eight single-channel inputs are also available) for protective doors, emergency stops and other safety circuits. More articles from Siemens Moore Process Automation: |
