Power supply terminals
December 1st 2006

TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments has introduced a new safety terminal for its range of laboratory power supplies. The new terminal combines the flexibility of a conventional 4mm bindingpost terminal with the safety features of a 4mm safety socket.

Terminals used on most laboratory power supplies are in the form of binding posts that can accept 4mm open plugs into the front and bare wires or spade terminals into the body.

However, TTi says concern over personal safety has caused some organisations to prohibit the use of bare ended connections within their laboratories. Instead, they stipulate that all connections must be made using shrouded 4mm plugs compatible with normal 4mm binding post terminals.
