LINKS TO FIVE MAJOR FIELDBUS NETWORKS
June 1st 2004

Pilz has introduced four communications modules to enable a PNOZmulti software-configurable, modular safety controller to be linked as a slave device to a DeviceNet, Interbus, CANopen or CC-Link industrial fieldbus network.

These are in addition to the companys PNOZ mc3p Profibus DP communications module.

Machine builders can use a PNOZmulti to control and monitor safety functions and output data that can be transferred via any of these five fieldbuses to a plc or other machine controller.

Data can be monitored, stored or used within a machine control system, for example, to display the status of the safety devices. Capable of transferring data at a rate of 12Mbits/s (for the Profibus DP model), the modules are fast enough for virtually any machinery safety application.

The 22.5mm-wide modules have leds that display the status of the units themselves.
