To underline the need for safety in the workplace, the British Compressed Gases Association recommends that flashback arrestors and pressure regulators should be replaced or refurbished every five years, or earlier if recommended by the manufacturer.

To help users comply with this recommendation, all Murex Saffire branded regulators and flashback arrestors are now stamped with a simple code highlighting the year when they should be inspected and replaced or refurbished.

Units that fail in service can present a potential hazard if failure results in a large discharge of gas from over the pressure relief valve.
