Relay has ATEX approval
December 1st 2004

Pilz has introduced a PNOZ Ex safety monitoring relay with an input circuit certified for use in hazardous areas.

The device is expected to be of interest to a variety of users, machine builders and system integrators who have emergency stop switches, guard interlock switches, position switches and optoelectronic safety devices in hazardous areas.

Wiring is said to be simplified and installations costs reduced.

The relay has intrinsically safe input circuit, a normally-open, volt-free auxiliary contact and a normally-open auxiliary contact for input circuit short-circuit indication to the hazardous area. There are also three normallyopen safety contacts and one normally-closed auxiliary contact for connection outside the hazardous area.
