Cuts downtime
April 1st 2004

Available from Pilz Automation Technology, the PNOZ ms 1p standstill and speed monitor is a new module for use with the PNOZmulti software-configurable safety controller.

The new module can monitor two axes independently, and up to four can be used with a PNOZmulti controller.

It is designed to meet the needs of the machine tool industry, meeting the requirements of EN 12417 for machining centres and EN 12415 for lathes. Input signals can be received directly from proximity sensors or, by using the small PNOZ msi 1p adapter, from incremental encoders.

Suitable for use with applications to Category 3 of EN 954-1, the speed and standstill monitoring module can help to minimise downtime if, for example, it is required to run a machine at a reduced speed or to keep the power supply connected in the event of a machine guard being opened for maintenance or commissioning.
