Protects visitors near sources of radiation
December 1st 2007

Link Microtek has expanded its portfolio of RF radiation safety products with the addition of a personal monitor that provides protection for visitors and non-specialist staff in the vicinity of transmitters or other sources of RF radiation.

Made by Narda Safety Test Solutions, the RadMan XT ICNIRP GP checks that electric field strengths are within the limit values specified in the 1998 General Public standard produced by ICNIRP (the International Commission for Non-Ionising Radiation Protection).

Whereas employees whose jobs routinely involve working in high-frequency fields are allowed to be exposed to higher field strengths because they have been trained and are aware of the risks, the more stringent 'General Public' limits apply to visitors or those who have no RF hazard awareness training.

RadMan XT generates two different alarm tones to alert the user when the electric field strength reaches 50% and 100% of the permitted limit value. It has four LEDs, that indicate field strength levels of 12.5, 25, 50 and 100%.
