UNNECESSARY DELAYS STOPPED
February 1st 2004

An animal feed manufacturer is using motion-monitoring products from Castell to minimise the impact of routine maintenance on productivity. BOCM Pauls has installed BEMF units on two of its pelleting presses to allow operatives to access them as soon as their rotating dies have come to a standstill.

Some of BOCM Pauls products are sensitive to moisture during their production and frequently cause the pellet presses to become blocked.

Previously, when such blockages occurred, the fixed run-down time would often overcompensate for the amount of product inside the presses. This caused operatives to wait longer than necessary before they were able to open the presses access doors.

By contrast, Castells BEMF units measure the elctromotive force generated by the rotating pellet dies and release an access key at the same moment as the dies come to a complete stop.
