Equate 'like for like'
October 1st 2006

Trelawny SPT, manufacturer of surface preparation equipment, has launched a new range of low vibration pneumatic tools under the Vibro-Lo brand.

The company operates an in-house testing operation. Its technical manager, Jeff Flather says "It is important for all users of power tools to make sure they are equating 'like for like' values when comparing vibration levels. We have a firm policy to test our tools in accordance with BS EN ISO 8662, Parts 1 and 14:1993 and 1997 or, where the standard is acceptable, we conform to BS EN ISO 5349- 2:2000. All quoted values are averaged tri-axial values." Trelawny markets a tool usage timer that is quickly fitted in-line on pneumatic tools and gives the precise length of time an operator is exposed to tool vibrations.
