Improved detection
April 1st 2005

Rohm and Haas, in conjunction with engineering partner ABB, has installed Elfab Amourgraph graphite bursting discs with integral Flo-Tel detection at its Jarrow chemical plant.

The top-tier COMAH site manufactures biocides and ion exchange resins and, since it operates close to the centre of Jarrow, the company is keen to reduce the risk of any release from its plants.

Amourgraph discs were installed to increase overall reliability of the burst detection system and provide higher levels of protection against accidental release.

The discs are said to alleviate problems such as sensitivity to misaligned flanges and over torque.

The G3A disc has steel body construction and noninvasive, fully reusable ATEX Zone 0-approved Integral Flo-Tel dectector that operates only when the disc has ruptured.
