Standards warning
June 1st 2010

Many machine manufacturers may be inadvertently relying on out-of-date standards to demonstrate compliance with the Machinery Directive warns safety and compliance consultant, Laidler Associates.

Only standards harmonised with the current Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC can now be used to demonstrate compliance. Many companies, however, are continuing to reference superseded standards that were harmonised with the previous, and now obsolete, Machinery Directive.

"At Laidler, we devote a lot of time and effort to researching and keeping up to date with developments relating to EU Directives and standards, and our resulting expertise is at the disposal of our clients. Our fees are a very small investment compared with the potential costs associated with non-compliance!" says Paul Laidler, MD of Laidler Associates.
