PROTECTS STAFF, YET LETS PRODUCT FLOW
April 1st 2005

The Leuze Mayser safe Entry-Exit machine guarding system is now a common feature on many of the pallet strapping and wrapping installations undertaken by Gordian Strapping.

The invisible safety barrier stops hazardous machinery should people encroach within a given distance, yet it allows full product flow.

Typical of the machines supplied by Gordian is a vertical strapping machine with a sword unit to penetrate the pallet voids to allow the strap to secure the product to the pallet.

During installation of such a machine, fixed guards are normally mounted either side of the machine, the only unprotected area being the conveyor in-feed and out feed routes. These are now guarded by the Entry-Exit system that detects anyone walking into the path of the machine and brings it to a halt. However, when a pallet approaches the light barrier, it moves into a muting areas, sensors recognise the load and momentarily negate operation of the light barrier.
