FABRIC PASSES FIRE PROTECTION TESTS June 1st 2004 Suitable for a range of garments
BuckHickman InOne, part of the Premier Farnell Group, claims to be bringing the latest fire resistant fabric technology used by Formula 1 racing teams to industry in a national distribution deal with the Adco Group.
PyroXtreme garments use a carbon fibre technology. Flash fire protection tests using mannequins are said to show that it provides three times the burn protection of its nearest competitors clothing. After the test, at temperatures in excess of 3000C for 5sec, there were no first degree and only minimal second and third degree burns.
The fabric has anti-static properties, is soft, flexible and breathable and can be tailored into any kind of garment. It is inherently flame resistant so there are no chemical or toxic treatments that can be washed out to reduce its performance. No special laundering is needed.
