Helping to protect poultry workers
April 1st 2007

DuPont Personal Protection says its Tyvek Classic Plus coveralls can be used to help protect poultry workers who may be exposed to the Avian Influenza virus.

During routine inspection of poultry, it is important to protect personnel from dust.

Tyvek fabric has a tightness level for particles down to 1µm diameter. In combination with sealed seams and the option to seal the zipper area, such garments are said to represent an optimised solution if no wet decontamination is required.

Should there be a risk of faecal contact or other potentially contaminated liquid under low pressure, DuPont recommends that an impermeable apron, such as one made from Tychem C, should be worn over a Tyvek Classic Plus suit.

For wet decontamination, Tychem suits combined with Virkon S disinfectant are said to provide an excellent solution.
