Rohm and Haas, developer and manufacturer of additives for plastics, paints and coatings, has appointed DuPont Personal Protection to provide personal protection expertise for its 70 hectare, 'Seveso II, high threshold' classified industrial site in Alsace, France.

DuPont was asked to optimise safety and numerous criteria were taken into account: making coveralls available; participating in technical meetings and safety reviews; carrying out risk analyses and on-the-spot studies of work stations; making available studies concerning resistance to permeation by liquid; and providing advice on suitable equipment and clothing, training and informing safety managers and users.

For coveralls, which are disposed of after use, Rohm and Haas chose the TYCHEM range, which offer protection against liquid splashes, and particularly TYCHEM F coveralls, which have high mechanical strength. The coveralls are available in three sizes: L, XL and XXL and their use is coded according to a chart where each level of hazard is rated from 0 to 4.
