Reflective technology
February 1st 2004

To complement its glassbead Scotchlite reflective material, 3M has introduced a series of Scotchlite High Gloss materials that use microprismatic technology to give garments a different look and feel.

High gloss materials are composed of microprisms bonded to a flexible, glossy, uv stabilised polymeric film. They are available either sealed to a vinyl backing to form a 2in wide garment tape or unsealed for custom converting. They may be sewn or radio/high frequency welded to compatible fabrics, depending on the garment and application.

3M says that as the market is now witnessing an increasing number of reflective materials from the UK and overseas, it is important that the garment buyer or manufacturer specifies that the tape used on their high visibility garments or accessories conforms to the necessary EN standards. 3M uses glass bead and microprismatic technologies to produce a range of Scotchlite retroreflective materials that consistently comply with EN471 and ensure the visibility and safety of the wearer.
