Trousers protect against the wind
April 1st 2006

When developing its Windstopper three-layer trouser, W L Gore & Associates identified three essential development criteria:

The trousers needed to protect against external factors such as bad weather and, depending on the activity, potential dangers such as electricity and fire.

They needed to help the body maintain its heat balance, and they needed to fit and be comfortable dayin, day-out.

The key component in the trousers is a wafer-thin membrane made of ePTFE.

The Windstopper membrane paste-dot bonded between the outer shell fabric and the inner lining makes the trousers windproof and breathable, ensuring that the wearer's legs are protected from the cold.

Moisture is drawn away if the body becomes overheated.

A skin-friendly inner lining increases comfort and the treated shell fabric makes the trouser water-repellent.
