Be seen, be safe and save money
June 1st 2004

Ensuring your employees can be clearly seen while working, especially after dark, is critical to their safety and required by law. However, the problem with high visibility workwear, is keeping it visible - dirt can soon cover and dull both the bright material and reflective tape surface on PPE. PHS Hi-viz provides the solution to this as its cleaning service ensures high visibility clothing maintains its visibility even after numerous wash and wear cycles.

The existing situation is that employers who supply their staff with high visibility clothing have the choice of either continually purchasing new clothing when it becomes dirty or running the risk of washing it incorrectly, resulting in the deterioration of the clothings high visibility effectiveness. Conventional laundering, dry cleaning and home washing use solvents, harsh detergents and high temperatures that can severely damage the special fabrics and finishes of high visibility clothing, reducing their reflective capabilities.

The complete cleaning process offered by PHS Hi-viz does not harm any of the components of high visibility clothing. The secret is a gentle but highly effective process - garments are cleaned with natural, organic materials, dried at low temperatures and, with no bleach involved, colours stay true and high visibility is maintained. This means that users no longer need to keep replacing dirty high visibility clothing, as it can now be successfully cleaned, repaired and refurbished.

How does the Hi-viz system work?

1. PHS Hi-viz collect dirty, safety-hazardous garments from site on a weekly service basis.

2. The first time a garment is received into the service, it is bar-coded to enable the lifetime of the garment to be tracked and traced.

3. All garments are fully inspected for any repairs that may be required before undergoing the unique cleaning process.

4. The garments are cleaned and repaired, inspected for a second time, individually packed and returned to site clean and ready to wear - all within 1 week of collection (All foul weather garments are also re-proofed as standard).

This highly effective process ensures that colours stay true and high visibility is sustained, maintaining the garment visibility in line with the requirements of The PPE at Work Regulations 1992.

But this process isnt just about effective cleaning, PHS understands that customers have different needs and as such has the flexibility to allow tailoring of the system to help meet everyones needs. In essence, PHS Hi-viz offer a Total Management Solution for the maintenance of high visibility workwear.

The Total Management Solution starts with the assignation of an Account Manager to each customer, so that specialist guidance is available right from the start - from the initial definition of individual needs and service characteristics and throughout the life of the account. Useful additional services include Management reporting including, for example, the number of cleans or repairs per garment, per person, per site and locker and soil bin rental.
