Monitors RF levels April 1st 2004 The MicroAlert model T-MA-P is a miniature, low cost RF hazard monitor that is available from Laplace Instruments.
It is intended for use by those who work in the vicinity of strong RF sources and transmitters and will give an audible warning if the RF field intensity (Power Density) exceeds 3mW/cm2.
It is about the size of a box of matches and weighs 32g, making it an unobtrusive monitor that can be worn clipped to a pocket or to a hard hat. Its low weight also reduces the chance of damage if it is dropped.
The monitor is sensitive to frequencies from 6MHz to 3GHz, that covers almost all the frequency range likely to be encountered on masts and base stations.
When the level is initially reached, the MicroAlert will beep. If the RF level continues to increase, beeping becomes continuous, giving an indication as to the level of the hazard.
A battery is pre-installed. This can be replaced with a CR2032 coin cell when flat. |
