Light on the helmet
October 1st 2007

LeDitSee Oy of Finland believes everyone in the workplace has a right to see, be seen and be safe. For that reason, it has developed a range of electronic headgear products for use across a wide range of sectors, from utility meter reading and unit installation to building service operations, to construction sites, and so on. The special LED circuitry currently has an EU-wide patent with worldwide patent pending. The latest product to be introduced to the UK through Fintrade UK is a safety helmet LED accessory unit. This weighs just 25g and will fit on any existing safety helmet by sliding the unit onto the helmet brim and tightening two small screws. The 12 LEDs will produce a luminosity of up to 20 000 mcd and the number of LEDs activated can be varied between 4, 8 or 12 depending on the light required. Employees can work hands-free safely in conditions where light is less than ideal. The module is powered by a 9V alkaline battery (included) or lithium rechargeable battery. At 6°C, the battery with all lights on, will operate for about 50h. It is waterproof and can be washed by hand. The unit can be transferred from a helmet that has outlived its usefulness to a new helmet. A new Baseball Bump Cap from LeDitSee is expected in the UK early next year.
