SIMPLY PRESS THE BUTTON AND LISTEN
April 1st 2005

Peltor has introduced a new series of passive hearing detectors that have a manual listening function.

The wearer simply presses a button on the Push To Listen shell and is then able to listen to speech. The company believes this solves an age old problem at workplaces that require extremely powerful passive hearing detectors.

To communicate with colleagues, many workers choose to expose one ear or remove the hearing protectors completely. The risk of hearing impairment increases with the exposure time.

The new hearing protectors – that still offer some attenuation even when allowing sound through – can be restored to their protective function simply by pressing the button again.

Should the user forget to switch the protection back on, the unit does so automatically after 30 seconds.
